Staying on Track with Goal Setting will require Discipline, Concentration, Focus and Applied Action.
Have you officially set your goals? Are you all geared up to get started on them? Have you established some concise ways to support your goals? What will ensure that you actually stay on your desired path? “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” –Jim Rohn “You must take action now that will move you towards your goals. Develop a sense of urgency in your life.” –H. Jackson Brown Jr. It is easy to get off the path. It is also easy to get all wrapped in the stuff in everyday life. We must plan and work to make our goals happen. It will require exertion in an organized manner to see our goals come to life. When you do set goals and establish ways to get where you want to go, how do you stay on track? “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” –Confucius Once you have clear goals that you want to achieve, it is easier to set the necessary steps to achieve them. It sounds easy. But in all actuality it is not. The fact is that you will only take control of your goal when you “stop getting distracted doing some of the things” that you are now doing. Take the time to Examine your life right now? What does it look like? Did you get the necessary steps done today to reach your goal? What you did today will show up later? How then do you stay on track? “Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” –Pablo PicassoHere are 2 steps which will help you stay on track towards fulfilling your goals:
1. Hire a mentor or coach.
This is one truly effective way to stay on track towards what you desire in life. Your mentor/coach can guide you in the right path. They can tweak your game. There are all types of mentor/coaches for any goal from weight loss to relationships to business. Find the right one for you. If you can’t afford one, be sure to report to someone that you trust. Have a significant other person serve as a your mentor/coach. This will help ensure that you do what you are supposed to be doing to reach that goal.
Most successful people have coaches. They have a coach that is there to tweak their game. It was said at one time that Oprah Winfrey had 7 coaches. Look how successful she is in her life. Every millionaire I've heard about has had a coach.
2. Associate with people who have goals similar to yours.
By surrounding yourself with like-minded people you can accelerate your steps towards your desired goal or goals. This will also make you more accountable, as well as, have others to help in the reinforcement on your goal.
Many people tend to get off track on their goals at some point. If you find yourself off the track, ask yourself what I am doing right now? Is it moving me towards or away from my desired goal?
Many of the greatest accomplishments in history have been done against impossible odds because someone had a dream and set goals allowing them to stay on track to fulfill that dream.
